Great eye appeal in person. Cent-on-dime planchets have always been one of our favorite mint errors, given their dramatic appearances, rarity, and bargain prices.

But Type 1 (prepared) cent-on-dime planchets (aka blanks) like this one are many times rarer than the Type 2 (prepared) version, which themselves are very scarce. Transitional year (first of clad coinage), well before 1978, when lower level mint employees began to deliberately fake errors by the untold thousands per issue.
